Founded in 1986, the Depot Community Food Centre is a nonprofit organization that supports people living on low incomes in Montréal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood and surrounding areas by providing them with access to healthy food in a dignified and welcoming environment. More than a food bank, The Depot’s programs bring people together to Grow, Cook, Share, and Mobilize to end food insecurity.
As the cost of living rises, too many people are forced to make impossible choices, often compromising on healthy food. The Depot provides immediate support through initiatives like the Marché Depot, an emergency food basket program, and the Resto Depot, where participants can enjoy nourishing healthy meals, coffee, and access to community resources in a vibrant setting.
Food support is just the beginning. The Depot creates opportunities for learning, connection, and advocacy through over a dozen food-based programs. From urban agriculture to cooking workshops and initiatives that address systemic barriers to food security, the Depot creates spaces where knowledge is shared, skills are developed, and solutions are built together. For example, the Depot's “Market Veggie Guide” helps participants discover local vegetables offered through food programs, offering tips on storage, preparation, and creative ways to incorporate them.
Power Corporation is proud to partner with the Depot to provide real, sustainable solutions for the residents of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and the surrounding areas.
Food is the entry point. The Depot has a broader, longer-term vision of social justice.
