For more than 60 years, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC) has demonstrated the fundamental role of contemporary art in Montréal. Located in the vibrant Quartier des spectacles, a prime spot in the heart of the city, this one-of-a-kind museum boasts an impressive national collection of over 8,000 works. Over the past 35 years, the MAC has relied on the invaluable support of its Fondation to engage the business, philanthropic, and cultural communities, as well as the public, in its quest to preserve and disseminate contemporary art.
By presenting art in all its forms – both physical and virtual, material and immaterial – the MAC encourages visitors to develop their own perspectives and personal interpretations of contemporary art. To fully achieve its mission, the MAC requires additional space to expand its facilities for exhibitions, presentations, educational activities, and cultural mediation. The recently launched major fundraising campaign aims to meet this need, thereby creating more room for contemporary art, providing artists with a new platform to showcase their work, and offering an unparalleled experience to visitors from near and far.
Innovation and creativity are the cornerstones of the MAC’s transformation. The new museum embodies a promising and sustainable future for Montréal, as well as its commitment to excellence.
