Shaping tomorrow's theatre

The Compagnie Jean Duceppe has been a leader in Montréal’s cultural scene since its inception in 1973. Located at Place des Arts, in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, the theatre presents contemporary plays that address societal issues with direct and dynamic language.

A key player in Quebec's cultural scene for over 50 years, Duceppe produces five signature shows each season, along with intimate performances (“5 à 7”), revivals of recent hits (“En rappel” series), and tours of regional venues across Quebec to make its productions accessible throughout the province. Visionary in its approach, Duceppe multiplies eco-responsible initiatives and strategies to reach all audiences, making strides on several fronts that resonate with our times.

To keep evolving and innovating, Duceppe has launched a fundraising campaign to sustainably support its new Creation centre, a multi-purpose space designed to host scenic and technological laboratories, artistic residencies, rehearsals, and experimental performances.

The Creation centre is the cornerstone of a new business model that fosters artistic exploration, creativity, and flexibility, extending the lifecycle of productions from creation to performance. The goal is to achieve greater creative freedom that ensures artistic excellence, prolonged successes, increased revenues for artists, and the attraction of new audiences. As a strong and unifying institution, Duceppe believes this transformation will benefit the entire theatrical ecosystem and our community.

Power Corporation is proud to support Duceppe's fundraising campaign to help the organization continue producing ambitious projects that engage and inspire the community.
