Founded in 1996 as part of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), the Raoul-Dandurand Chair in Strategic and Diplomatic Studies has a mission of analysis, education and dissemination of expertise on major global issues to universities, governments, international organizations, the private sector and society at large. It comprises 30 scholars in residence and over 100 associate scholars from various countries and disciplines. Power Corporation is proud to support the Raoul-Dandurand Chair and to contribute to the development of Canadian expertise on international issues essential to our societies.
In addition of publishing reports, books and academic papers, Raoul Dandurand Chair scholars share their essential knowledge and insights with the general public, through numerous media interviews and conferences. The Raoul-Dandurand Chair, in an effort to introduce students to significant contemporary political issues, offers access to internships and classes that are either part of UQAM’s Department of Political Science or part of other universities that are either based in Québec or elsewhere. It also acts as a consultant for governments, organizations active on the international scene, and public and private companies. Over the years, the Chair has developed five key areas of expertise: geopolitics, conflict resolution and peace operations, the Middle East and North Africa, the United States, and multidimensional conflicts and cybersecurity. It is now an essential reference in its fields of expertise.
